The concept below was inspired by the playful style and bright color palette of Curious George.
I drew from the fun, energetic typography and warm tones to subtly connect the idea of gymnastics with the feeling of swinging and moving freely - sort of like a monkey.
Chow's Gymnastics
For this project, I designed a fun T-shirt for Chow’s Gymnastics that captures the energy, strength, and spirit of its athletes. The goal was to create a gender-neutral design that appeals to all ages and reflects the gym’s vibrant community. Using bold colors and a playful yet clean aesthetic, the final design balances inclusivity with a dynamic, athletic feel that represents the heart of the gym.
The final version features bright colors, playful movement, and shooting stars to enhance the sense of energy and motion, creating a vibrant, dynamic look that embodies the excitement of gymnastics.
I also created an alternate version using just red and white, designed to be printed on a blue shirt. This variation ties into Chow’s signature red, white, and blue color scheme while maintaining the same fun, whimsical energy that captures the spirit of the gym.
This design follows the popular retro text-stacking trend, featuring the word “GYMNASTICS” repeated in bold, wavy lettering that transitions from light to dark purple. The layered text creates a sense of rhythm and movement, reflecting the strength and energy of gymnastics while maintaining a sleek, modern look. The layered gradient effect adds depth and movement, giving the design a trendy, eye-catching look while capturing the energy and rhythm of gymnastics. It feels modern yet nostalgic—perfect for appealing to a wide audience within the gym’s community.
This project was a fun exploration on how to capture vibrant energy through use of typography, colors, and shapes to create movement. Focusing on a gender-neutral, bold aesthetic helped create a design that appeals to all ages while celebrating the community’s strength and enthusiasm. It was rewarding to blend fun and movement into a clean, versatile design that truly represents the gym’s lively atmosphere.
